Pláticas con Maestr@s

PlaticasProject name: Pláticas con Maestr@s | Engaging Latinx Pre-sevice Teachers

Description: This project seeks to understand the tensions, challenges, and successes  that Latinx students experience as they enroll and progress in higher education, particularly teacher education programs. Kennesaw State University Latinx students who are education majors or have education interests are invited to join the monthly pláticas and retreats. Central to our work is to have students engage in pláticas, a Chicana/Latina method of inquiry where relationship building, trust, and informal conversations are part of the construction of knowledge. Students hold pláticas with each other and with practicing Latinx teachers to learn from the experience of others. The primary goal of this program  to intentionally serve Latinx education students and to engage them in culturally responsive, asset-based programming so that they can successfully complete their education program and begin their teaching careers.
