a research talk and performance piece by Dr. April Munson

KENNESAW, Ga. (Nov 23, 2022) — Join us on December 1st at 7pm to better understand the “unfine”; the complicated, layered impact of unresolved trauma on individual and community. Engaging multiple fields of study, we explore what it means to live as community plagued by mental health crisis, and how individual perspective of mental health powerfully impacts self and others.

“Losing Sight, Finding Vision” is a body of work that emerged during the initial phases of the study “Arts, Healing, and the Aesthetic Experience.” The work takes the viewer through the process of accepting loss and the critical roles of imagination and community in the process of trauma recovery.

Dr. Munson is a researcher for the Interactive Research Methods Lab, professor of Art Education, and passionate advocate for meaningful supports for those suffering from unresolved trauma. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, her MA and BA from the University of Kentucky, and has published and presented her work to communities nationally and internationally.

The event will be hybrid, so please use this link if interested in joining online.
